Hello, and thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me.
My Story in Brief (sort of brief..)
Like many, I’ve had a non-linear career. And yet, in some ways it’s been almost circular. Let me explain.
Growing up I was always drawn to the helping professions, and to the holistic spaces. Back when I was at school there were less options than there are now. Teaching was an option, and while I adore my kids and have some teacher friends (I really admire the work they do), teaching children didn’t appeal. The other option was the therapeutic spaces and I absolutely considered those, looking at options anywhere from medicine, to psychology, to speech pathology, to physio and more. However, when I was in Year 12, I had no idea what I wanted to do when I grew up. My very wise teacher suggested I do a double degree to keep my options open, and that’s what I did.
I left home, moved from country Victoria (where I spent my secondary school years) to Melbourne and lived in number of share households. Lots of fun, lots of memories, some challenges, and fabulous life experience. Fast forward and I graduated with a double degree in Arts (psychology and sociology) and Business (marketing). My first professional roles were in marketing, which I really enjoyed, and they gave me a great foundation in the business world. However, being drawn to the helping professions, this space never lit me up, and I always wanted to travel. I did a few short trips, but my next major step was a one-way ticket to Europe.
Being of mixed European decent, my family spoke a number of languages, but I only spoke English. I wanted to live in a non-English speaking country and learn a new language. After backpacking solo for a while I ended up in Italy (not where my family is from, but somewhere I felt incredibly comfortable). I stayed two years, teaching English and learning so much more! Being in a place where I couldn’t speak the language was an incredibly humbling experience. On a side note, before I left Australia my Mum told me that I wasn’t allowed to fall in love as she wanted me to come home. I flippantly told her not to worry, that if I did, I’d just bring him home with me. Little did I know that I would meet the man who is now my husband (he’s Italian) and ‘import’ him to Australia. He’s been here with me ever since.
Back in Australia I returned to marketing for a while, working in the very down to earth building industry. After having my kids, I moved into learning and development, and started to feel a sense of coming back into alignment with my purpose through supporting people in their professional development. I moved from the building industry, back to the fast moving consumer goods industry (food) in a learning and development role, and while doing that I went back to university, where I did a Graduate Certificate in Coaching and Counselling. This had me move out on my own, starting Harvest, and doing a mixture of one on one and group coaching, training, facilitation and instructional design (writing learning programs) both directly as Harvest, and in a contract capacity. This allowed me to work with people all over the world (thanks to virtual environments) and from many industries. This space of developing and supporting people in their development put me firmly back onto the curve towards my desire to be in the helping professions. However, the closure of the circle was still to come.
After my Dad passed away in a very short span of time (he had a very aggressive brain cancer) I found myself questioning a lot. I’d done a lot of therapeutic and healing work on myself over the years, but there’s nothing like losing someone you love to throw your world into a spin.
I’ve always been very interested in the holistic spaces, the healing spaces and broader aspects of spirituality, and the pull to explore these more thoroughly and deeply became very, very strong. I wanted to go deeper into the helping professions and to combine the developmental, healing and therapeutic spaces. This led me to completing my Soul Based Practitioner Training, where the largest component of the course is a Diploma of Hypnotherapy. However, I was drawn to this course due to the soul based approach, the opportunity to also work with energy, past life regression, ancestral healing, and so much more. Completing this course, and the personal development during this time brought be back around the circle, back to where my heart and soul lies, being in a space of working with people to support their healing and development. Although I have to say, maybe it’s more of a spiral than a circle, with upward movement. I certainly don’t see this journey as complete!
What People I Work With Have in Common
I work with people from many walks of life, drawing on my broad life and work experiences, as well as applying an approach which is both evidence based and intuitive. What people who work with me have in common is an open-mindedness and curiosity to explore, to heal and often to both remember, as well as to discover who they are and who they are evolving into - mind, emotions, body and soul.
The Professional Blurb
I'm lucky enough to love what I do. I care deeply about people, and I'm passionate about development, wellbeing and healing at multiple levels. I get to demonstrate this through supporting people in these spaces, which I believe not only contributes to their own development, but also has a positive flow on impact on their friends, family, colleagues and society at large.
I am an accredited Coach (PCC with ICF), Clinical Hypnotherapist, Facilitator, and Healer. I enjoy working with people at all stages in their development, and from all walks of life, both in Australia and globally. I work with people at a conscious, subconscious and energetic level to determine what’s important for them, both in terms of outcomes, and importantly, in how they show up along the journey. This allows them to be deliberate, purposeful, and aligned.
My Approach
My belief is that there is no ‘one size fits all'. People come with unique strengths, values, needs and goals that we explore together. I provide:
When working together I draw on an integrated approach. As such, we have the opportunity to consider one or more of mind, emotions, body and soul in the way we work. When combined with formal training, over 25 years’ experience in Coaching, Learning and Development, Hypnotherapy, Marketing, and broad life experience, I'm well placed to facilitate positive and sustainable learning, change, development, wellbeing and healing. I apply a holistic lens to development, supported by a foundation of evidence based coaching practices, hypnotherapy, adult learning theory and soul based approaches.
My focus is on developing the awareness, capabilities and resources that people require for their current and future lives, and that support their wellbeing and ability to navigate the relationships and environments they engage in. This supports them to thrive at all levels: mental, emotional, physical and at a soul level.
I draw on a range of evidence-based coaching and hypnotherapy practices, from positive psychology, solution focused, narrative, ego state, Gestalt, CBT and behavioral approaches, as well as adult learning theory, and holistic approaches to best support individual needs. I work from a strengths-based approach as I believe playing to your strengths allows for greater development, motivation, change and wellbeing.
To be effective, our relationship needs to be based on a foundation of strong rapport and trust. It's for this reason that qualifications alone aren't sufficient. However, when combined with life experience, they are important in ensuring you are partnering with someone who has evidence based tools and techniques to draw on to help guide your development journey. As such, I hold a Graduate Certificate in Coaching and Counselling (Deakin University), I'm an Accredited Organisational Coach with the Institute of Executive Coaching and Leadership (IECL), I hold a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy, and I'm a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coach Federation (ICF).
