What is Hypnotherapy? An evidence based practice to change and healing
Hypnotherapy is a scientifically supported practice used to help people create positive change, overcome challenges, and improve overall wellbeing. During hypnosis, we enter a state of deep mental, physical, and emotional relaxation combined with heightened focus. In this state, the conscious mind — the busy, analytical and critical part — becomes quieter, allowing access to the subconscious mind. The subconscious holds our learned beliefs, emotional responses, habits, memories, and behavioural patterns. By working at this level, hypnotherapy supports meaningful and lasting change by addressing the underlying drivers of thoughts, emotions, and behaviour — not just the symptoms. What Can Hypnotherapy Help with?
Hypnotherapy can be used to support a wide range of goals and concerns, including:
Hypnotherapy helps increase self-awareness, clarity, motivation, and direction by working directly with the subconscious mind. Past Life Regression & Ancestral Healing
Hypnotherapy can also be used to explore past life experiences through Past Life Regression Therapy, as well as ancestral influences that may be impacting your current life. My approach is both evidence-based and intuitive, working holistically at the levels of mind, emotions, body, and soul. Sessions are client-centred, collaborative, and tailored to your individual goals. Hypnotherapy is not about losing control — you remain fully aware and in charge throughout the process. I guide and support you to access your subconscious mind safely and respectfully, using techniques aligned with your intentions and desired outcomes. Did You Know?
Science estimates that approximately 95% of brain activity is unconscious. This means that many of our decisions, behaviours, emotions and reactions are driven by processes outside of our conscious awareness. Hypnotherapy allows us to access this subconscious 95%, creating opportunities for insight, healing, and change that may not be achievable through conscious effort alone. Most people experience hypnosis as deeply relaxing and highly focused, and many find it an enjoyable and empowering process. Hypnotherapy Pricing

Frequently Asked Questions
Is hypnotherapy safe? Yes, when practiced by a qualified professional. Sessions are conducted in a safe, supportive environment, and your emotional wellbeing is always prioritised. The process is gentle and guided, and you are never pushed beyond what feels appropriate for you. Will I be unconscious or unaware? No. Most people describe hypnosis as a deeply relaxed yet focused state, similar to daydreaming or being absorbed in a book or movie. You will still be aware of your surroundings and will usually remember the session afterwards. Will I lose control during hypnosis? No. You remain fully in control at all times. Hypnosis is not sleep or unconsciousness. You are aware of what is happening and can speak, move, or stop the process at any point. Hypnotherapy is a collaborative experience — you cannot be made to do or say anything against your will. What if I can’t be hypnotised? Most people can experience hypnosis. You do not need to be “suggestible” or have a quiet mind. In fact, people who are thoughtful, reflective, and imaginative often respond very well. Hypnotherapy works with your natural ability to focus inward — it is not something being done to you. What if difficult emotions or memories come up? This is a common concern, and it’s completely understandable. Your sessions are guided carefully and at a pace that feels safe and manageable. You will not be forced to relive or revisit anything you are not ready for. Support and integration are an important part of the process. How is hypnotherapy different from counselling or coaching? Counselling and coaching primarily work with the conscious mind through discussion, insight and strategies. Hypnotherapy works more directly with the subconscious mind, where many patterns, emotional responses and habits are formed. For this reason, it can be particularly effective when change feels difficult despite understanding the issue intellectually. Many people find a combined approach to be especially powerful. How many sessions will I need? This varies depending on your goals, history and the area you would like support with. Some people notice shifts within a small number of sessions, while others prefer ongoing support. This will be discussed with you, and the approach is always tailored to your individual needs. Is hypnotherapy evidence-based? Hypnotherapy is widely used as a complementary therapeutic approach and has been shown to be effective for a range of issues, including habit change, stress, anxiety and emotional wellbeing. It is most effective when delivered by a trained practitioner and when aligned with the individual's goals and readiness for change. What if it doesn’t work for me? It’s normal to wonder about this, especially if you’ve tried other approaches before. Hypnotherapy is not about forcing change — it works by supporting your own internal capacity for change. While results cannot be guaranteed, sessions are always approached with care, honesty and respect for your individual process. Still Have Questions? "What can I say? There really aren't words to describe how life-changing my work with Laurenne was. She is exceptional at what she does. I was a bit unsure what it would be like to work with a hypnotherapist online, but her patience, compassion and empathy made me feel safe - and it was just as effective as meeting a therapist at their office (maybe even more so because I felt so comfortable). I cannot recommend Laurenne highly enough."
